datacenter cooling,

nailing the
narrative
Traditional data centers use reactionary cooling, responding to spikes in energy usage only once temperature changes reach thermal sensors.
Axiado uses predictive cooling, reacting to upcoming temperatures before they happen. By monitoring current thermal loads, their proprietary LLM extrapolates upcoming temperature changes and cools proactively. At scale, this enables datacenters to save up to $60 million dollars per every 100,000 servers.
simplified message
Axiado’s technology uses machine learning to proactively adjust datacenter cooling, creating huge savings when deployed at scale.
product
visualization
We translated reference photography of their designs and modeled the chip from scratch in 3D. We used their photography to generate textures so the chip matched 1:1. The color of the product changed throughout production, but 3D allowed us to easily change the colors in the middle of production.
design
challenges
I predictive optimizations
Axiado's predictive technology shows actions before causes occur. The system also relies on intangible software commands from distributed datacenter components. This made it challenging to visually represent the flow of instructions between servers in a clear and intuitive way.
II thermal management
Visualizing thermal management in 3D is tricky because it involves showing temperature changes inside components, which are usually invisible. Two main ways to tackle this are mapping heat with color gradients, like a thermal camera, or showing the internal heat flow directly. We ended up showing heat directly so that the color palette stayed on brand.
III abstract information
Axiado wanted to highlight performance stats, savings, carbon goals, and real-world deployments using text. The challenge was to present these statistics in a way that felt connected to the visuals. We solved this by blending the text with clever visual metaphors, making the stats feel like a natural part of the overall story.
visual
design
As production progressed, we worked to visualize a hypothetical data center that included all the elements needed to tell our story. The design evolved to represent abstract concepts like data flow, security, and temperature regulation, requiring creative solutions to integrate these systems into one environment.

“The video created was good quality and the project was handled professionally. I was surprised Justin was patient enough as the video script and animation went through a few iterations.”
